                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
     2     Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for the
     3     definition of "local agency" for purposes of governmental
     4     immunity.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  The definition of "local agency" in section 8501
     8  of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is amended
     9  to read:
    10  § 8501.  Definitions.
    11     The following words and phrases when used in this chapter
    12  shall have, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise, the
    13  meanings given to them in this section:
    14     * * *
    15     "Local agency."  A government unit other than the
    16  Commonwealth government. The term includes an intermediate
    17  unit[.] and municipalities cooperating in the exercise or
    18  performance of governmental functions, powers or

     1  responsibilities under 53 Pa.C.S. Ch. 23 Subch. A (relating to
     2  intergovernmental cooperation).
     3     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
