                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, providing for special plates for Operation
     3     Lifesaver; and establishing the Operation Lifesaver Fund.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     7  Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
     8  § 1361.  Special plates for Operation Lifesaver.
     9     (a)  Plate.--Upon application of any person, accompanied by a
    10  fee of $20 which shall be in addition to the annual registration
    11  fee and by such documentation as the department shall require,
    12  the department shall issue to such person a special registration
    13  plate bearing the Operation Lifesaver logo and designating the
    14  vehicle so registered as belonging to a person who has an
    15  interest in the purposes and goals of Operation Lifesaver. The
    16  special registration plate may be used only on one passenger
    17  vehicle or truck with a gross vehicle weight rating of not more


     1  than 9,000 pounds.
     2     (b)  Use of fee.--The $20 fee collected under subsection (a)
     3  shall be paid into the Operation Lifesaver Fund, which is hereby
     4  established as a separate account in the State Treasury. The
     5  moneys in this account are hereby appropriated to the Department
     6  of Transportation on a continuing basis to fund the provisions
     7  of Operation Lifesaver programs conducted by railroads within
     8  the Commonwealth as the department deems appropriate.
     9     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
