AN ACT
1 Amending the act of August 6, 1963 (P.L.521, No.277), entitled
2 "An act providing that probation officers shall have the
3 power of peace officers in the performance of their duties,"
4 providing for powers of certain warrant investigators.
5 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
6 hereby enacts as follows:
7 Section 1. The title of the act of August 6, 1963 (P.L.521,
8 No.277), entitled "An act providing that probation officers
9 shall have the power of peace officers in the performance of
10 their duties," is amended to read:
11 AN ACT
12 Providing that probation officers and certain warrant
13 investigators shall have the power of peace officers in the
14 performance of their duties.
15 Section 2. Section 1 of the act, amended December 4, 1992
16 (P.L.766, No.117), is amended to read:
17 Section 1. Probation officers and Pre-trial Services
18 Division warrant investigators in cities of the first class
1 heretofore or hereafter appointed by any court of record of this
2 Commonwealth are hereby declared to be peace officers, and shall
3 have police powers and authority throughout the Commonwealth to
4 arrest with or without warrant, writ, rule or process, any
5 person on probation, intermediate punishment or parole under the
6 supervision of said court for failing to report as required by
7 the terms of his probation, intermediate punishment or parole or
8 for any other violation of his probation, intermediate
9 punishment or parole.
10 Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
