AN ACT 1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, providing for an Independence National Historical 3 Park license plate; establishing the Independence National 4 Historical Park Fund; and further providing for the duties of 5 the Department of Community and Economic Development. 6 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 7 hereby enacts as follows: 8 Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 9 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read: 10 § 1361. Independence National Historical Park plate. 11 The department, in consultation with Eastern National and the 12 Independence National Historical Park of the United States 13 National Park Service, shall design an Independence National 14 Historical Park registration plate. Upon application of any 15 person, accompanied by a fee of $35 which shall be in addition 16 to the annual registration fee, the department shall issue the 17 plate for a passenger car, motor home, trailer or truck with a 18 registered gross vehicle weight of not more than 9,000 pounds.
1 The Independence National Historical Park Fund shall receive $15 2 of each additional fee for this plate. 3 Section 2. Section 1905 of Title 75 is amended by adding a 4 subsection to read: 5 § 1905. Payments to special funds. 6 * * * 7 (d) Independence National Historical Park Fund.--Fifteen 8 dollars of each fee received under section 1361 (relating to 9 Independence National Historical Park plate) shall be credited 10 to the Independence National Historical Park Fund, created as 11 follows: 12 (1) There is hereby established a special account in the 13 Treasury Department which shall be known as the Independence 14 National Historical Park Fund. The purpose of the 15 Independence National Historical Park Fund is to assist and 16 support educational programs sponsored through the park's 17 history education center, known as the Independence Park 18 Institute, which promotes tourism and educates visitors on 19 the founding of this nation at Independence Hall in 20 Philadelphia in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. 21 (2) All moneys in the Independence National Historical 22 Park Fund are hereby annually appropriated to the Department 23 of Community and Economic Development and may be expended for 24 the purposes authorized under this subsection. 25 (3) Estimates of amounts to be expended under this 26 subsection shall be submitted to the Governor by the 27 Department of Community and Economic Development for his 28 approval. 29 (4) The State Treasurer shall not honor any requisition 30 for expenditures by the Department of Community and Economic 19990H1776B2177 - 2 -
1 Development in excess of estimates approved by the Governor 2 or in excess of the amount available for the purposes for 3 which the requisition was made, whichever is the lesser 4 amount. 5 Section 3. This act shall take effect immediately. D6L75JAM/19990H1776B2177 - 3 -
