AN ACT
1 Making a supplemental appropriation to the Department of Public
2 Welfare for community mental health care.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. The sum of $90,000,000 is hereby appropriated to
6 the Department of Public Welfare for the fiscal year July 1,
7 1999, to June 30, 2000, for increasing the wages of direct care
8 staff in community programs as authorized by the act of October
9 20, 1966 (3rd Sp.Sess., P.L.96, No.6), known as the Mental
10 Health and Mental Retardation Act of 1966, including private
11 intermediate care facilities/MR, residential treatment
12 facilities, adult day services, individual and family support
13 and living services, personal care homes, community residential
14 rehabilitation services and vocational and social rehabilitation
15 services, to supplement the appropriation under section 219 of
16 the act of May 5, 1999 (P.L. , No.1A), known as the General
17 Appropriation Act of 1999. These funds shall become available
1 after legislation providing for such an increase has been
2 enacted.
3 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
