AN ACT 1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, further providing for speed timing devices. 3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 4 hereby enacts as follows: 5 Section 1. Section 3368(c)(2) of Title 75 of the 6 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes is amended to read: 7 § 3368. Speed timing devices. 8 * * * 9 (c) Mechanical, electrical and electronic devices 10 authorized.-- 11 * * * 12 (2) [Except as otherwise provided in paragraph (3), 13 electronic] Electronic devices [such as] including, but not 14 limited to, radio-microwave devices (commonly referred to as 15 electronic speed meters or radar) may be used [only] by 16 members of the Pennsylvania State Police and by other police 17 officers who have successfully completed a training program
1 conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police. No police 2 officer, other than a member of the Pennsylvania State 3 Police, shall be permitted to use an electronic device until 4 he has successfully completed a training course in the use of 5 such devices conducted by the Pennsylvania State Police. 6 * * * 7 Section 2. The training course described in 75 Pa.C.S. § 8 3368(c)(2) shall commence within one year of the effective date 9 of this act. 10 Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
