                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
     2     Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for
     3     sentencing procedure for murder of the first degree.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 9711(i) of Title 42 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     8  § 9711.  Sentencing procedure for murder of the first degree.
     9     * * *
    10     (i)  Record of death sentence to Governor.--[Within 90 days
    11  of the date a sentence of death is upheld by the Supreme Court]
    12  Where a sentence of death is upheld by the Supreme Court, the
    13  prothonotary of the Supreme Court shall transmit to the Governor
    14  a full and complete record of the trial, sentencing hearing,
    15  imposition of sentence and review by the Supreme Court within 90
    16  days of the expiration of the time period for filing a petition
    17  for writ of certiorari or extension thereof, or disposition of

     1  the writ of certiorari by the United States Supreme Court.
     2  Notice of this transmission shall contemporaneously be provided
     3  to the Secretary of Corrections.

     5     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
