AN ACT
1 Requiring public hearings and municipality approval for the
2 operation of methadone treatment centers.
3 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
4 hereby enacts as follows:
5 Section 1. Methadone treatment centers.
6 No methadone treatment center may operate in this
7 Commonwealth unless the governing body of the municipality in
8 which the center is to be located conducts a public hearing and
9 the governing body approves the operation of the center. The
10 governing body shall approve the center only if the governing
11 body determines that the operation of the center will not
12 jeopardize the public health, safety or welfare of the residents
13 in the municipality.
14 Section 2. Effective date.
15 This act shall take effect in 60 days.
