                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of May 1, 1933 (P.L.103, No.69), entitled, as
     2     reenacted and amended, "An act concerning townships of the
     3     second class; and amending, revising, consolidating and
     4     changing the law relating thereto," further providing for
     5     auditor's compensation.

     6     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  hereby enacts as follows:
     8     Section 1.  Section 902 of the act of May 1, 1933 (P.L.103,
     9  No.69), known as The Second Class Township Code, reenacted and
    10  amended November 9, 1995 (P.L.350, No.60), is amended to read:
    11     Section 902.  Auditor's Compensation.--(a)  Each auditor
    12  shall receive [seven dollars ($7)] ten dollars ($10) for each
    13  hour necessarily employed in the duties of the office upon
    14  presentation to the board of supervisors of an itemized listing
    15  of the dates, times, places and hours worked to perform the
    16  audit. No auditor in a township having a population of ten
    17  thousand or less is entitled to receive more than [seven hundred
    18  dollars ($700)] one thousand dollars ($1,000) for completing the


     1  annual audit, settlement and adjustment. No auditor in a
     2  township having a population in excess of ten thousand is
     3  entitled to receive more than [fourteen hundred dollars
     4  ($1,400)] two thousand dollars ($2,000) for completing the
     5  annual audit, settlement and adjustment.
     6     (b)  In addition to the time actually used by the board of
     7  auditors to complete the audit, settlement and adjustment, each
     8  auditor may be compensated at the rate of [seven dollars ($7)]
     9  ten dollars ($10) each hour for not more than fifty hours to
    10  audit the accounts of any public official who handles public
    11  funds when a vacancy occurs in the office of the public
    12  official.
    13     (c)  Each auditor shall be reimbursed for travel costs
    14  incurred in the performance of the auditing duties at the rate
    15  established by the board of supervisors under the act of July
    16  20, 1979 (P.L.156, No.51), referred to as the Uniform Mileage
    17  Fee Law, and for other expenses, including postage, notary fees
    18  or publication costs, incurred during the audit.
    19     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
