SENATE RESOLUTION

        INTRODUCED BY HART, LOEPER, THOMPSON, EARLL, STOUT, MUSTO,
           BRIGHTBILL, AFFLERBACH, GERLACH, WAGNER AND SCHWARTZ,
           SEPTEMBER 23, 1998

        REFERRED TO RULES AND EXECUTIVE NOMINATIONS, SEPTEMBER 23, 1998

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating October 3, 1998, as the "National Aviary in
     2     Pittsburgh Day" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The National Aviary in Pittsburgh is one of the
     4  first facilities in the nation built specifically for the
     5  exhibition of birds, housing over 500 birds, many of which are
     6  endangered; and
     7     WHEREAS, The National Aviary in Pittsburgh saves endangered
     8  species by preserving natural habitats and continuing endangered
     9  bird breeding programs; and
    10     WHEREAS, The National Aviary in Pittsburgh conducts avian
    11  research, provides a national resource for avicultural
    12  information and offers high quality educational programming for
    13  regional audiences; and
    14     WHEREAS, The National Aviary in Pittsburgh affords the
    15  highest quality family recreational experience that a zoological
    16  institution may offer; therefore be it
    17     RESOLVED, That the Senate designate October 3, 1998, as the


     1  "National Aviary in Pittsburgh Day" in Pennsylvania.
