A RESOLUTION 1 Designating the week of November 3 through 10, 1997, as "Women 2 Veterans Week" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, Nearly 1.8 million women have served in the armed 4 forces of the United States; and 5 WHEREAS, Women have provided courageous and honorable service 6 in the American Revolution, World War I, World War II, Operation 7 Desert Storm and the Vietnam and Korean Conflicts; and 8 WHEREAS, Women have been wounded and killed in the line of 9 duty, taken prisoner and committed countless acts of bravery and 10 heroism; and 11 WHEREAS, Today women fill a variety of roles and ranks in our 12 nation's military, both active and reserve, ranging from cook to 13 fighter pilot and recruit to flag officer; and 14 WHEREAS, The sacrifices and achievements of women veterans 15 deserve recognition by a grateful Commonwealth; therefore be it 16 RESOLVED, That the Senate honor the service of women veterans
