A RESOLUTION 1 Declaring the week of January 26 through February 1, 1997, as 2 "Catholic Schools Week" in this Commonwealth. 3 WHEREAS, Catholic schools in this Commonwealth are 4 celebrating "Catholic Schools Week" from January 26 through 5 February 1, 1997; and 6 WHEREAS, Catholic elementary and secondary schools, educating 7 approximately 240,000 students annually, save State and local 8 taxpayers more than 1.3 billion dollars each year; and 9 WHEREAS, Catholic schools instill in young people a strong 10 foundation of values, self-esteem, self-confidence and 11 leadership skills; and 12 WHEREAS, Catholic schools, in providing young people with 13 solid values and academic skills needed in becoming responsible 14 citizens of this Commonwealth and nation, have a dropout rate of 15 less than 3% and a postgraduate higher education enrollment rate 16 of 80%; therefore be it
1 RESOLVED, That the Senate declare the week of January 26 2 through February 1, 1997, as "Catholic Schools Week" in this 3 Commonwealth and express congratulations and appreciation to 4 Catholic elementary and secondary schools across this 5 Commonwealth on the occasion of "Catholic Schools Week" in 1997.
