        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JUNE 9, 1998

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Commemorating September 17, 1998, as the 211th birthday
     2     anniversary of the Constitution of the United States and
     3     designating the week of September 17 through 23, 1998, as
     4     "National Constitution Week" in Pennsylvania.

     5     WHEREAS, On September 17, 1998, the Constitution of the
     6  United States will be 211 years old; and
     7     WHEREAS, The Constitution of the United States serves as the
     8  cornerstone of our democracy and a guiding light to our nation;
     9  and
    10     WHEREAS, Various activities and programs are being held
    11  throughout our great nation during the week of September 17


     1  through 23, 1998, which will be known as "National Constitution
     2  Week"; therefore be it
     3     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commemorate
     4  September 17, 1998, as the 211th birthday anniversary of the
     5  Constitution of the United States and designate the week of
     6  September 17 through 23, 1998, as "National Constitution Week"
     7  in Pennsylvania; and be it further
     8     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage all of
     9  the citizens of this Commonwealth to participate in the various
    10  activities and programs throughout "National Constitution Week."
