INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MAY 13, 1997
A RESOLUTION 1 Designating the week of June 2 through 8, 1997, as "Electric 2 Technologies Week" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, Innovative electric technologies can and must play a 4 vital role in Pennsylvania's energy, environmental and economic 5 strategies and policies; and 6 WHEREAS, Advanced electric technologies save total energy, 7 increase productivity and reduce emissions for cleaner air; and 8 WHEREAS, Electric technologies can power this Commonwealth's 9 business and industry, from small to large-scale, and can 10 attract clean new development and technologies to Pennsylvania 11 for economic prosperity and environmental benefit; and 12 WHEREAS, Electric technologies are playing a key role in 13 national policy for advancing technology development, saving 14 energy and reducing emissions to the environment; and
1 WHEREAS, The Commonwealth, through its Technology 21 2 initiative, in providing leadership in the development and 3 transfer of new technologies for the purpose of promoting energy 4 efficiency, increasing business productivity and achieving a 5 cleaner environment; and 6 WHEREAS, On June 2 and 3, 1997, the Pennsylvania Electric 7 Association and its member companies are sponsoring the 8 Electrotechnology Expo at the State Capitol Building to showcase 9 the many uses of electric technologies for Statewide economic 10 and environmental enhancement; therefore be it 11 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the 12 week of June 2 through 8, 1997, as "Electric Technologies Week" 13 in Pennsylvania in recognition of the very positive economic and 14 environmental benefits these technologies can produce in this 15 Commonwealth.
