        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           APRIL 29, 1997

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Declaring May 12 through 18, 1997, as "Senior Center Week in
     2     Pennsylvania" in accordance with the nationwide observance of
     3     this week.

     4     WHEREAS, Older Americans are significant members of our
     5  society who invest their wisdom and experience to enrich the
     6  lives of younger generations; and
     7     WHEREAS, All Americans should recognize and honor the
     8  contributions older adults continue to make to generations which
     9  have followed them; and
    10     WHEREAS, Older Americans have available to them a variety of


     1  services and opportunities through senior center programs; and
     2     WHEREAS, "Senior Center Week" will be celebrated throughout
     3  the United States during the week of May 12 through 18, 1997, to
     4  increase public awareness of the programs available to senior
     5  Americans and to encourage participation in senior center
     6  programs; therefore be it
     7     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives declare the week
     8  of May 12 through 18, 1997, as "Senior Center Week in
     9  Pennsylvania" in order to increase public awareness of the
    10  services available to older Americans, to encourage
    11  participation by older Americans in senior center programs and
    12  to recognize and honor the valuable contributions senior
    13  Americans continue to make in the lives of members of younger
    14  generations.
