        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JANUARY 29, 1997

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Commemorating January 30, 1997, as "Pennsylvanians with
     2     Disabilities Day."

     3     WHEREAS, The act of May 26, 1988 (P.L.413, No.71), designates
     4  January 30 of each year as "Pennsylvanians with Disabilities
     5  Day," in honor of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's birthday; and
     6     WHEREAS, Pennsylvanians with disabilities, through courage
     7  and determination, have conquered many insurmountable obstacles
     8  to lead successful, productive and rewarding lives; and
     9     WHEREAS, Pennsylvanians with disabilities demonstrate unique


     1  character and perseverance in pursuing and attaining their
     2  desired goals; and
     3     WHEREAS, These individuals make noteworthy contributions to
     4  their communities, this Commonwealth and the nation; and
     5     WHEREAS, These individuals, who number over one million in
     6  Pennsylvania, deserve special recognition from public officials
     7  who represent their interests; therefore be it
     8     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives proclaim its
     9  appreciation for the many contributions from Pennsylvanians with
    10  disabilities who enrich our communities throughout this
    11  Commonwealth and commemorate January 30, 1997, as
    12  "Pennsylvanians with Disabilities Day."
