AMENDMENTS TO SENATE AMENDMENTS, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES,
APRIL 20, 1998
AN ACT
1 Making an appropriation from a restricted revenue account within
2 the General Fund and from Federal augmentation funds to the
3 Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. The following sums, or as much thereof as may be
7 necessary, are specifically appropriated from the restricted
8 revenue account within the General Fund and from Federal
9 augmentation funds to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission
10 to provide for the operation of the commission for the fiscal
11 year July 1, 1998, to June 30, 1999, for the purposes and in the
12 amounts shown:
13 Federal State
14 For the salaries, wages and all
15 necessary expenses for the proper
16 operation and administration of the
17 Pennsylvania Public Utility
1 Commission, including the chairman
2 and commissioners and the Bureau of
3 Safety and Enforcement.
4 State appropriation........ 39,183,000
5 The following Federal
6 augmentation amounts, or as
7 much thereof as may be
8 necessary, are specifically
9 appropriated to supplement the
10 sum authorized to be billed to
11 utilities for the operation of
12 the commission:
13 (1) "Natural Gas
14 Pipeline Safety" - To
15 enforce the regulations of
16 the Natural Gas Pipeline
17 Safety Act.
18 Federal appropriation...... 250,000
19 Any Federal funds which the
20 Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission
21 receives pursuant to these
22 appropriations shall not be reimbursed
23 to any utility.
24 FOR EXPANDED CONSUMER EDUCATION <--
25 EXPENSES RELATED TO ELECTRIC
26 COMPETITION.
27 STATE APPROPRIATION........ 200,000
28 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 1998, or
29 immediately, whichever is later.
