HOUSE BILL

        SENATOR CORMAN, TRANSPORTATION, IN SENATE, AS AMENDED,
           MAY 5, 1998

                                     AN ACT

     1  Designating a section of SR 0073 in Montgomery County,
     2     Pennsylvania as the POW/MIA Memorial Highway; AND designating  <--
     3     a bridge in Chester County as the Marty Godra Memorial
     4     Bridge; and designating a section of the Southern Tier         <--
     5     Expressway in Erie County, Pennsylvania, as the Forest W.
     6     Hopkins Memorial Highway. BRIDGE.                              <--

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  (a)  The section of SR 0073 in Whitpain Township,
    10  Montgomery County, between North Wales Road and Butler Pike, is
    11  designated and shall be known as the POW/MIA Memorial Highway.
    12     (b)  The Department of Transportation shall erect and
    13  maintain appropriate signs identifying the above portion of road
    14  as the POW/MIA Memorial Highway.
    15     Section 2.  (a)  The bridge located on SR 3079, Five Point
    16  Road, Highland Township, Chester County, over Fawn Run is
    17  designated and shall be known as the Marty Godra Memorial
    18  Bridge.

     1     (b)  The Department of Transportation shall erect and
     2  maintain appropriate signs identifying the bridge designated in
     3  subsection (a) as the Marty Godra Memorial Bridge.
     4     Section 3.  (a)  The eight-mile section of Route 17 in Erie    <--
     5  County, from Greenfield Township to the New York State line, is
     6  hereby designated and shall be known as the Forest W. Hopkins
     7  Memorial Highway.
     8     (b)  Forest W. Hopkins was a committed community servant, who
     9  served with distinction as a State Representative from the
    10  Fourth Legislative District from 1967 to 1978. Mr. Hopkins died
    11  in office in 1978.
    12     Section 4.  The Department of Transportation shall erect and
    13  maintain road signs, which shall display the name of Forest W.
    14  Hopkins Memorial Highway, at the beginning and the end of the
    15  section of the highway designated in subsection (a).
    16     Section 5.  This act shall take effect as follows:
    17         (1)  Sections 1 and 2 shall take effect in 60 days.
    18         (2)  The remainder of this act shall take effect
    19     immediately.
    20     SECTION 3.  THIS ACT SHALL TAKE EFFECT IN 60 DAYS.             <--
