        AS AMENDED ON SECOND CONSIDERATION, IN SENATE, JUNE 3, 1997

                                     AN ACT

     1  Designating a certain bridge on SR 0011 over the West Branch of
     2     the Susquehanna River connecting Point Township,
     3     Northumberland County and Monroe Township, Snyder County, as
     4     the Barry A. King Memorial Bridge; redesignating the Pullman   <--
     5     Viaduct (SR 3001) in Butler County as the Picklegate
     6     Crossing; designating a certain bridge on SR 2028 in Mifflin
     7     Township and South Centre Township, Columbia County, as the
     8     Mifflin-South Centre Veterans Memorial Bridge; designating a   <--
     9     section of the Southern Tier Expressway in Erie County as the
    10     Forest W. Hopkins Memorial Highway; and designating a certain
    11     bridge in the Borough of Clarks Summit, Lackawanna County, as
    12     the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Bridge.

    13     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    14  hereby enacts as follows:
    15  Section 1.  Barry A. King Memorial Bridge.
    16     (a)  The bridge over the West Branch of the Susquehanna River
    17  which carries SR 0011 from Point Township, Northumberland County
    18  to Monroe Township, Snyder County, is hereby designated and
    19  shall be known as the Barry A. King Memorial Bridge.
    20     (b)  The Department of Transportation shall erect and
    21  maintain signs which shall display the name of Barry A. King
    22  Memorial Bridge at each end of the bridge so designated in

     1  subsection (a).
     2  Section 2.  Picklegate Crossing.                                  <--
     3     (a)  The Pullman Viaduct (SR 3001) in Butler Township, Butler
     4  County, which crosses over several railway tracks of the
     5  Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad or of any successor, is hereby
     6  redesignated and shall be known as the Picklegate Crossing.
     7     (b)  The Department of Transportation shall erect and
     8  maintain appropriate markers or signs to indicate the
     9  redesignation under subsection (a).
    10  Section 3 2.  Mifflin-South Centre Veterans Memorial Bridge.      <--
    11     (a)  The bridge located on SR 2028 at Station 17+27.1 in
    12  Mifflin Township and at Station 34+17.96 in South Centre
    13  Township, Columbia County, is hereby designated and shall be
    14  known as the Mifflin-South Centre Veterans Memorial Bridge.
    15     (b)  The Department of Transportation shall erect and
    16  maintain signs which shall display the name of the Mifflin-South
    17  Centre Veterans Memorial Bridge so designated in subsection (a).
    18  Section 4.  Forest W. Hopkins Memorial Highway.                   <--
    19     (a)  The eight-mile segment of Route 17 in Erie County, from
    20  Greenfield Township to the New York State line, is hereby
    21  designated and shall be known as the Forest W. Hopkins Memorial
    22  Highway.
    23     (b)  Forest W. Hopkins was a committed community servant, who
    24  served with distinction as a State Representative from the
    25  Fourth Legislative District from 1967 to 1978. Mr. Hopkins died
    26  in office in 1978.
    27     (c)  Within 60 days of completion of construction of the
    28  highway segment described in subsection (a), the Department of
    29  Transportation shall erect and maintain road signs displaying
    30  the designation "Forest W. Hopkins Memorial Highway," at the

     1  beginning and end of the highway segment.
     2  Section 5 3.  Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Bridge.           <--
     3     (a)  The bridge carrying Winola Road (SR 4024) over railroad
     4  tracks, situated in the Borough of Clarks Summit, Lackawanna
     5  County, shall hereafter be known as the Veterans of Foreign Wars
     6  Memorial Bridge.
     7     (b)  The Department of Transportation shall erect appropriate
     8  signs to indicate this designation.
     9  Section 6 4.  Effective date.                                     <--
    10     This act shall take effect immediately.
