AN ACT
1 Amending Title 35 (Health and Safety) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, authorizing the Governor to enter into
3 cooperative agreements for grants for hazard mitigation.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Title 35 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
8 § 7305.1. Grants for hazard mitigation.
9 Whenever the President authorizes the contribution of up to
10 75% of the cost of hazard mitigation measures to reduce the risk
11 of future damage, hardship, loss or suffering in any area
12 affected by a major disaster pursuant to The Robert T. Stafford
13 Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (Public Law 93-288,
14 88 Stat. 143), the Governor is authorized, subject to the
15 availability of appropriated funds, to enter into an agreement
16 with the Federal Government or any Federal agency or officer
1 pledging the Commonwealth to participate in the funding of the
2 mitigation project.
3 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
