                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, further providing for voluntary
     3     manslaughter and for possession of firearms by minors.         <--

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 2503(c) of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     8  § 2503.  Voluntary manslaughter.
     9     * * *
    10     (c)  Grading.--Voluntary manslaughter is a felony of the
    11  [second] first degree.
    12     Section 2.  Section 6110.1(b) of Title 18, added June 13,      <--
    13  1995 (1st Sp.Sess P.L.    , No.17), is amended to read:
    14  § 6110.1.  Possession of firearm by minor.
    15     * * *
    16     (b)  Exception.--Subsection (a) shall not apply to a person

     1  under 18 years of age [who is under the supervision of a parent,
     2  grandparent, legal guardian or an adult acting with the
     3  expressed consent of the minor's custodial parent or legal
     4  guardian] and:
     5         (1)  who is under the supervision of a parent,
     6     grandparent, legal guardian or an adult acting with the
     7     expressed consent of the minor's custodial parent or legal
     8     guardian and the minor is engaged in lawful activity,
     9     including [lawfully hunting or trapping,] safety training,
    10     target shooting at an established range [or], engaging in an
    11     organized competition involving the use of a firearm or the
    12     firearm is unloaded and the minor is transporting it for a
    13     lawful purpose; or
    14         [(2)  the firearm is unloaded and the minor is
    15     transporting it for a lawful purpose.]
    16         (2)  who is lawfully hunting or trapping in accordance
    17     with Title 34 (relating to game).

    19     Section 3. This act shall take effect as follows:
    20         (1)  The amendment of 18 Pa.C.S. § 2503(c) shall take
    21     effect in 60 days.
    22         (2)  The remainder of this act shall take effect
    23     immediately.
    24     SECTION 2.  THIS ACT SHALL TAKE EFFECT IN 60 DAYS.             <--
