           MARCH 20, 1996

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Bureau of Forestry in
     2     the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby resolves as follows:

     5     WHEREAS, This past year the Bureau of Forestry in the
     6  Department of Conservation and Natural Resources celebrated its
     7  100th Anniversary of service to the citizens of this
     8  Commonwealth; and
     9     WHEREAS, The Bureau of Forestry has enjoyed a long and proud
    10  history of forest and natural resources management in this
    11  Commonwealth; and
    12     WHEREAS, The Bureau of Forestry is responsible for the
    13  protection of 17 million acres of Commonwealth forest land from
    14  fire, insects and disease; and
    15     WHEREAS, The Bureau of Forestry manages two million acres of
    16  State-owned forest land for timber, recreation, water, wildlife
    17  and minerals and provides management advice to the 400,000

     1  private woodland owners in this Commonwealth; therefore be it
     2     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives extend its
     3  heartiest congratulations to the Bureau of Forestry in the
     4  Department of Conservation and Natural Resources on the occasion
     5  of its 100th Anniversary and recognize the Bureau's outstanding
     6  contributions to forest and natural resources management.
