INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, MARCH 15, 1996
A RESOLUTION 1 Designating the week of April 21 through 27, 1996, as "Youth 2 Temperance Education Week" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, The National Women's Christian Temperance Union will 4 be conducting a youth temperance education program during the 5 week of April 21 through 27, 1996, for the purposes of: 6 (1) educating youth on the deleterious effects of 7 alcohol, drugs and tobacco on their health and well-being; 8 (2) emphasizing clean living in clean bodies; and 9 (3) promoting a lifestyle that is free from alcohol, 10 tobacco and drugs by demonstrating the quality of life that 11 is enjoyed by people who abstain from the aforesaid 12 substances; and 13 WHEREAS, The recognition and promotion of the efforts of the 14 National Women's Christian Temperance Union to conduct a Youth
1 Temperance Education Week will benefit all of the citizens of 2 this Commonwealth, particularly its youth; therefore be it 3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the 4 week of April 21 through 27, 1996, as "Youth Temperance 5 Education Week" in Pennsylvania.
