INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, FEBRUARY 7, 1995
A RESOLUTION 1 Congratulating the Pennsylvania Game Commission on its 100th 2 Anniversary. 3 WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Game Commission is celebrating 100 4 years of service to this Commonwealth; and 5 WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Board of Game Commissioners, 6 renamed the Pennsylvania Game Commission in 1937, was created by 7 the act of June 25, 1895 (P.L.273, No.187), signed by Governor 8 Daniel H. Hastings; and 9 WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Game Commission is charged with the 10 duty to protect, propagate, manage and preserve the game or 11 wildlife of this Commonwealth and to enforce, by proper actions 12 and proceedings, the laws of this Commonwealth relating thereto; 13 and
1 WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Game Commission serves more than 2 1,000,000 licensed resident hunters; and 3 WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Game Commission's State game lands 4 system, which comprises more than 1.4 million acres, purchased 5 predominantly with sportsmen's dollars, provides recreational 6 opportunities without a fee for millions of residents; and 7 WHEREAS, Over its first 100 years, the Pennsylvania Game 8 Commission has restored many of this Commonwealth's once- 9 troubled wildlife populations, including the white-tailed deer, 10 black bear, beaver and wild turkey; and 11 WHEREAS, Donald C. Madl, Executive Director of the 12 Pennsylvania Game Commission, is the 16th to serve the Game 13 Commission's board of commissioners in that capacity, beginning 14 with Dr. Joseph Kalbfus, who was the first executive director; 15 therefore be it 16 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives extend 17 congratulations to the Pennsylvania Game Commission and its 18 members and employees, both past and present, in recognition of 19 their 100 years of dedicated service to the citizens of this 20 Commonwealth.
