INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, JANUARY 26, 1995
A RESOLUTION 1 Condemning acts of violence against health care clinics and 2 commending those with opposing viewpoints who are able to 3 rationally further their cause through nonviolent means. 4 WHEREAS, The right to peaceably disagree is basic to our 5 democracy; and 6 WHEREAS, Violence and hatred are unacceptable means of 7 expressing opposing viewpoints; and 8 WHEREAS, Violence against health care providers has 9 increasingly become a repugnant trend across the Nation; and 10 WHEREAS, The horrible murders at women's health care 11 facilities in Brookline, Massachusetts, and Pensacola, Florida, 12 as well as the reprehensible bombing of a women's health care 13 facility in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, should be condemned as 14 despicable acts which are totally contrary to the ethic of life;
1 and 2 WHEREAS, Law and order with justice is in the inherent 3 interest of all Pennsylvanians; therefore be it 4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives reaffirm its 5 support for the laws of this Commonwealth and this Nation and 6 condemn those who engage in criminal activity; and be it further 7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives express its 8 outrage at the murders which occurred at women's health care 9 facilities in Brookline, Massachusetts, and Pensacola, Florida, 10 and the bombing which occurred at a women's health care facility 11 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and further express its total 12 condemnation of the use of such violence; and be it further 13 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commend those who 14 are able to reasonably and rationally express opposing 15 viewpoints through nonviolent means; and be it further 16 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage all of 17 the citizens of this Commonwealth to respect diverse viewpoints 18 and to condemn violence.
