                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
     2     act relating to the public school system, including certain
     3     provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
     4     schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
     5     laws relating thereto," further providing for construction of
     6     school buildings.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  Section 2574(b) and (c) of the act of March 10,
    10  1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949,
    11  are amended by adding clauses to read:
    12     Section 2574.  Approved Reimbursable Rental for Leases
    13  Hereafter Approved and Approved Reimbursable Sinking Fund
    14  Charges on Indebtedness.--* * *
    15     (b)  For new school buildings the approved building
    16  construction cost shall be the lesser of

    18     (3.2)  For school buildings in a district with an average
    19  daily membership of seven hundred fifty (750) or less and an aid


     1  ratio of fifty one-hundredths (.50) or higher for which the
     2  general construction contract is awarded on or after July 1,
     3  1996, the approved building construction cost shall be the
     4  maximum which would be approved if the project were eligible for
     5  reimbursement as a school building for a vocational-technical
     6  school under subsection (e).
     7     (c)  For additions or alterations to existing buildings
     8  approved building construction cost shall be the lesser of
