AN ACT
1 Amending Title 24 (Education) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, further providing for health insurance premium
3 assistance program.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Section 8509(b) of Title 24 of the Pennsylvania
7 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
8 § 8509. Health insurance premium assistance program.

10 (b) Amount of premium assistance.--Effective July 1, 1992,
11 participating eligible annuitants shall receive premium
12 assistance payments of [$55] $162 per month or the actual
13 monthly premium, whichever is less. Such payments shall be made
14 by the board to the participating eligible annuitants for their
15 payment directly to their approved insurance carriers. Such
16 payments may also be paid by the board, at the board's
17 discretion, directly to the participating eligible annuitants'
18 approved insurance carriers. The board shall have the right to
1 verify the application and receipt of the payments by the
2 participating eligible annuitants and their approved insurance
3 carriers.
