AN ACT 1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, further providing for driving on right side of 3 highway. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Section 3301 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania 7 Consolidated Statutes is repealed. 8 Section 2. Title 75 is amended by adding a section to read: 9 § 3301.1. Drive on right side of highway. 10 (a) General rule.--Upon all highways of sufficient width, 11 except upon one-way streets, the driver of a vehicle shall drive 12 the same upon the right half of the highway and shall drive as 13 closely as possible to the right-hand edge or curb of such 14 highway, unless it is impracticable to travel on such side of 15 the highway or unless the proper authorities have designated a 16 different part of the highway as the proper lane of travel, and 17 except when overtaking or passing another vehicle, subject to 18 the limitations applicable in overtaking and passing set forth
1 in this title. 2 (b) Applicability.--The provisions of this section shall 3 apply to multiple lane divided highways. 4 (c) Regulating traffic.--The department may on any multilane 5 highway or any part thereof, by the erection of appropriate 6 signs or the construction of curbs, painted lines or other 7 physical separations, regulate any class of traffic or type of 8 vehicle to a designated lane or lanes or provide separate 9 traffic lanes for any class of traffic or type of vehicle, 10 including multioccupant vehicles or car pools. 11 (d) Exception.--A vehicle shall be driven upon the right 12 half of the highway as provided for in this section except when 13 making a left turn as provided in sections 3322 (relating to 14 vehicle turning left) and 3331 (relating to required position 15 and method of turning). 16 Section 2.
