AN ACT 1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 2 Statutes, providing for Pennsylvania Irish Caucus 3 registration plates and for a fund to renovate war memorials. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated 7 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read: 8 § 1358. Pennsylvania Irish Caucus plate. 9 The department, in consultation with the Irish Legislative 10 Caucus of Pennsylvania, shall design a special Pennsylvania 11 Irish Caucus registration plate. Upon application of any person, 12 accompanied by a fee of $35 which shall be in addition to the 13 annual registration fee, the department shall issue the plate 14 for a passenger car or truck with a gross vehicle weight rating 15 of not more than 9,000 pounds. The Irish Famine Memorial Fund 16 shall receive $15 of the fee paid by the applicant for the 17 plate.
1 Section 2. Section 1905 of Title 75 is amended by adding a 2 subsection to read: 3 § 1905. Payments to special funds. 4 * * * 5 (c) Irish Famine Memorial Fund.--Fifteen dollars of each fee 6 received under section 1358 (relating to Pennsylvania Irish 7 Caucus plate) shall be credited to the Irish Famine Memorial 8 Fund, created as follows: 9 (1) There is hereby established a special account in the 10 Treasury Department which shall be known as the Irish Famine 11 Memorial Fund. The purpose of the Irish Famine Memorial Fund 12 is for the establishment, restoration or renovation of 13 memorials and for conducting commemorative activities to 14 honor persons who suffered in the Irish famine. 15 (2) All moneys in the Irish Famine Memorial Fund are 16 hereby annually appropriated to the Irish Legislative Caucus 17 of Pennsylvania to be expended by authorized municipalities 18 and social organizations, upon application, approved for the 19 purposes of this subsection. 20 (3) Amounts to be expended under this subsection shall 21 be submitted to the Governor by the Irish Legislative Caucus 22 of Pennsylvania for his approval. 23 Section 3.
