AN ACT
1 Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
2 Statutes, providing for a positive point system to reward
3 good drivers.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
7 Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
8 § 1535.1. Driver point reward system.
9 A positive point system for the reward of drivers licensed in
10 this Commonwealth who maintain a driving record free from any
11 points awarded under section 1535 (relating to schedule of
12 convictions and points) or any other convictions is hereby
13 established. Upon the completion of each calendar year, the
14 department shall award one positive point to each driver
15 licensed in this Commonwealth who maintained a clear driving
16 record for the immediately preceding calendar year. Points
1 awarded under this section shall be allowed to accumulate to a
2 maximum of ten. Any points assessed under section 1535 shall be
3 deducted from any points accumulated under this section.
4 Section 2. This act shall apply to the calendar year 1996
5 and each year thereafter.
6 Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
