                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 35 (Health and Safety) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, further providing for the Pennsylvania
     3     Volunteer Loan Assistance Program.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 7317 of Title 35 of the Pennsylvania
     7  Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
     8  § 7317.  Pennsylvania Volunteer Loan Assistance Program.
     9     (a)  Creation.--Within the agency there shall be a loan
    10  assistance program, which shall be implemented by the
    11  Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner, for volunteer agencies,
    12  known as the Pennsylvania Volunteer Loan Assistance Program,
    13  which shall make loans to volunteer fire companies, volunteer
    14  ambulance services, hazardous materials units, river rescue
    15  squads, volunteer diving rescue units and volunteer rescue
    16  squads for the purpose of establishing or modernizing facilities
    17  to house firefighting apparatus equipment, ambulances and rescue
    18  equipment and vehicles, and for purchasing new firefighting

     1  apparatus equipment, ambulances, rescue vehicles and protective
     2  and communications equipment, and any other accessory equipment
     3  necessary for the proper performance of such organizations'
     4  duties, as recognized by the community.
     5     (b)  Transfer.--There are hereby transferred to the agency,
     6  to be used, employed and expended in connection with the
     7  functions, powers and duties authorized in subsection (a),
     8  personnel, contractual obligations, if any, mortgages, liens,
     9  encumbrances and any other secured interests, records, files,
    10  property, supplies and equipment now being used or held in
    11  connection with such functions, powers and duties, and the
    12  unexpended balance of appropriations, allocations and other
    13  funds available or to be made available for use in connection
    14  with such functions, powers and duties, as transmitted by
    15  Reorganization Plan No.7 of 1981 (P.L.615).
    16     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
