                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 66 (Public Utilities) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, providing for the regulation of the
     3     placement of public telephones in counties of the second
     4     class.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Title 66 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     8  Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
     9  § 2916.  Authority of municipalities in counties of the second
    10             class.
    11     A county of the second class shall have the power to enact
    12  and enforce a local ordinance regulating the placement and
    13  maintenance of public telephones within the county. This
    14  ordinance may require that applicants obtain a permit from the
    15  municipality for the placement of a public telephone and may
    16  contain provisions relating to fees, the renewal of permits and
    17  the suspension or revocation of permits.
    18     Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
