AN ACT
1 Amending Title 23 (Domestic Relations) of the Pennsylvania
2 Consolidated Statutes, further providing for eligibility for
3 adoption.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby enacts as follows:
6 Section 1. Section 2312 of Title 23 of the Pennsylvania
7 Consolidated Statutes is amended to read:
8 § 2312. Who may adopt.
9 Any individual may become an adopting parent. The race,
10 ethnic origin or religion of an individual is not a
11 consideration in determining whether that individual may adopt.
12 Section 2. The amendment of 23 Pa.C.S. § 2312 shall apply to
13 petitions for adoption filed on or after the effective date of
14 this act.
15 Section 3. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
