                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 23 (Domestic Relations) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, further providing for arrests for
     3     violation of protection orders.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Section 6113(c) and (d) of Title 23 of the
     7  Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended to read:
     8  § 6113.  Arrest for violation of order.
     9     * * *
    10     (c)  Procedure following arrest.--Subsequent to an arrest,
    11  the defendant shall be taken by the police officer without
    12  unnecessary delay before the court in the judicial district
    13  where the contempt is alleged to have occurred. When that court
    14  is unavailable, the police officer shall convey the defendant to
    15  a district justice designated as appropriate by local rules of
    16  court or, in counties of the first class, to the appropriate
    17  hearing officer or, in the City of Pittsburgh, to a judge of the
    18  Pittsburgh Magistrates Court.

     1     (d)  Preliminary arraignment.--The defendant shall be
     2  afforded a preliminary arraignment without unnecessary delay.
     3  For the purpose of this subsection, judges of the Pittsburgh
     4  Magistrates Court shall be deemed to be district justices.

     6     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
