        INTRODUCED BY TRICH, LESCOVITZ, KUKOVICH, LaGROTTA, STEIGHNER,
           COLAIZZO, FEE, DALEY, COLAFELLA, MARKOSEK, VEON, TANGRETTI,
           WOZNIAK, PESCI, HALUSKA, VAN HORNE, DeWEESE, STEELMAN,
           ROBERTS, KASUNIC, LAUGHLIN, ROBINSON, PETTIT AND FARMER,
           NOVEMBER 21, 1994

        ADOPTED, NOVEMBER 21, 1994

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing the importance of the Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball
     2     Organization to Southwestern Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Organization is an
     4  important contributor to the direct, indirect and intangible
     5  economic benefits of Southwestern Pennsylvania; and
     6     WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Organization
     7  accounts for an estimated positive financial impact of
     8  $130,225,000 annually in Southwestern Pennsylvania; and
     9     WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Organization has
    10  provided heroes whose lives left an indelible mark on young and
    11  old fans alike; and
    12     WHEREAS, Who could forget the morality of Honus Wagner, the
    13  raw power of Ralph Kiner, the magic of Bill Mazeroski, the grace
    14  of Roberto Clemente and the faith of Willie Stargell; and
    15     WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Organization
    16  captured World Series Championships in 1909, 1925, 1960, 1971


     1  and 1979; and
     2     WHEREAS, The presence of a Major League Baseball team in
     3  Southwestern Pennsylvania is a significant attraction for
     4  economic development; therefore be it
     5     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
     6  importance of the Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Organization
     7  remaining in Southwestern Pennsylvania; and be it further
     8     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commit itself to
     9  rendering assistance to the Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball
    10  Organization so that the organization will remain in
    11  Southwestern Pennsylvania; and be it further
    12     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
    13  the Commissioner of Major League Baseball, the Mayor of
    14  Pittsburgh and the Commissioners of Allegheny County.
