A JOINT RESOLUTION
1 Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the Commonwealth
2 of Pennsylvania, providing for the initial dates of
3 legislative sessions.
4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
5 hereby resolves as follows:
6 Section 1. The following amendment to the Constitution of
7 Pennsylvania is proposed in accordance with Article XI:
8 That section 4 of Article II be amended to read:
9 § 4. Sessions.
10 The General Assembly shall be a continuing body during the
11 term for which its Representatives are elected. It shall meet at
12 12 o'clock noon on the first Monday after the first Tuesday of
13 January each year. Special sessions shall be called by the
14 Governor on petition of a majority of the members elected to
15 each House or may be called by the Governor whenever in his
16 opinion the public interest requires.
1 Section 2. This proposed amendment shall be submitted by the 2 Secretary of the Commonwealth to the qualified electors of this 3 Commonwealth at the primary, general or municipal election next 4 held after the advertising requirements of section 1 of Article 5 XI of the Constitution of Pennsylvania have been satisfied.
