A RESOLUTION 1 Memorializing Congress to reform the work incentives for Aid to 2 Families with Dependent Children recipients. 3 WHEREAS, Thousands of people in Pennsylvania rely on Aid to 4 Families with Dependent Children; and 5 WHEREAS, The Federal Government regulates how the benefits 6 are administered; and 7 WHEREAS, It is difficult to break the cycle of dependency on 8 the welfare system; and 9 WHEREAS, Entering the workforce costs money; and 10 WHEREAS, Entry-level positions do not always provide 11 sufficient income and benefits to replace the assistance 12 granted; and 13 WHEREAS, People who choose to work should be gradually weaned 14 off welfare so that they are able to successfully make the 15 transition from welfare to the workforce; and 16 WHEREAS, Aid to Families with Dependent Children should help 17 provide the means for persons to make this transition; therefore
1 be it 2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives memorialize the 3 United States Congress to reform the work incentives for Aid to 4 Families with Dependent Children recipients; and be it further 5 RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to 6 the presiding officers of each house of Congress and to each 7 member of Congress from Pennsylvania.
