A RESOLUTION 1 Urging the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission to consider holding 2 hearings to study the proposed electronic toll and traffic 3 management (ETTM) system. 4 WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has been 5 studying implementation of an electronic toll and traffic 6 management system for several years; and 7 WHEREAS, The Commission has engaged in interagency 8 cooperation with toll agencies in the metropolitan New York and 9 New Jersey areas to define the necessary elements of a regional 10 ETTM system which will be released for bid in early 1992 based 11 on the specifications derived; and 12 WHEREAS, The Commission has talked with vendors of several 13 similar systems which can be used on the Pennsylvania Turnpike; 14 and 15 WHEREAS, The issues of implementing an ETTM system are 16 complex, technical and problematic; and 17 WHEREAS, The Commission seeks to identify and eliminate the 18 problems of converting to an ETTM system and seeks to devise a
1 system which is compatible with any in place on adjoining New 2 York and New Jersey highways; therefore be it 3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge the 4 Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission to consider holding hearings 5 and taking testimony to study the complexities, technology and 6 problems which conversion to an electronic toll and traffic 7 management system will engender and how to best confront those 8 issues so they are resolved before the system is implemented on 9 the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
