A RESOLUTION
1 Declaring the week of May 10 through 16, 1992, as "Emergency
2 Medical Services (EMS) Week" in Pennsylvania and proclaiming
3 its theme as "IT STARTS WITH YOU."
4 WHEREAS, The members of emergency medical services teams
5 devote their lives to saving the lives of others, and emergency
6 medical services providers perform extraordinary public
7 services; and
8 WHEREAS, The emergency medical services community consists of
9 physicians, nurses, health professionals, paramedics, emergency
10 medical technicians, first responders, ambulance attendants and,
11 in many instances, the public, who link together the emergency
12 medical services network; and
1 WHEREAS, The citizens of this Commonwealth benefit daily from
2 the knowledge, training, skill and services of these
3 professional individuals; and
4 WHEREAS, In appreciation of the organized efforts of
5 emergency medical services providers, the Commonwealth shall set
6 aside a week to commemorate, support and appreciate emergency
7 medical services providers and plan activities in this
8 Commonwealth; and
9 WHEREAS, The designation of "Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
10 Week" will serve to educate the people of Pennsylvania about
11 injury prevention and what to do when confronted with a medical
12 emergency; therefore be it
13 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
14 value and the accomplishments of both paid and volunteer
15 emergency medical service providers by designating the week of
16 May 10 through 16, 1992, as "Emergency Medical Services Week" in
17 Pennsylvania and proclaiming its theme of "IT STARTS WITH YOU";
18 and be it further
19 RESOLVED, That Thursday, May 14, 1992, be declared "Emergency
20 Department Staff Recognition and Appreciation Day"; and be it
21 further
22 RESOLVED, That Friday, May 15, 1992, be declared "Prehospital
23 Emergency Medical Services Provider Recognition and Appreciation
24 Day," and these prehospital providers shall include health
25 professionals, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, first
26 responders and ambulance attendants; and be it further
27 RESOLVED, That Saturday, May 16, 1992, be declared "Citizen
28 Recognition and Appreciation Day" to acknowledge the citizens of
29 this Commonwealth who participate in C.P.R., first aid,
30 fundraising and other activities that support emergency medical
