A RESOLUTION 1 Designating the week of October 7 through 13, 1991, as "Social 2 Studies Awareness Week" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, 1991 is the 200th anniversary of the Bill of Rights; 4 and 5 WHEREAS, Social Studies is an important device to teach our 6 youth the historical events that have shaped todays world; and 7 WHEREAS, The changing world around us has given todays youth 8 the opportunity to witness events that will shape the world of 9 the future; and 10 WHEREAS, The importance of our educational system and the 11 teaching of a social studies curriculum are an important "eye on 12 the world" to our youth; and 13 WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Council for the Social Studies is 14 conducting its 38th annual meeting on October 10 through 12,
1 1991, in Pittsburgh; therefore be it 2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives hereby designate 3 October 7 through 13, 1991, as "Social Studies Awareness Week" 4 in Pennsylvania and urge all residents of this Commonwealth, in 5 honor of this observance, to promote social studies at all 6 educational levels in this Commonwealth.
