A RESOLUTION
1 Proclaiming the week of May 19 through 25, 1991, as "Bookmobile
2 Appreciation Week."
3 WHEREAS, Bookmobile service may be the only library contact
4 for many people residing in rural and suburban areas of this
5 Commonwealth; and
6 WHEREAS, Bookmobiles in Pennsylvania promote literate
7 communities, assist with economic development and provide free
8 access to information for all; and
9 WHEREAS, Pennsylvania's network of bookmobiles is available
10 for an average access of over 45 hours a week; and
11 WHEREAS, Pennsylvania's network of bookmobiles annually
12 circulates an average of almost 2,000,000 items; and
13 WHEREAS, The State Library of Pennsylvania provides the
14 coordinating force for bookmobile services within this
15 Commonwealth; and
1 WHEREAS, Eighty people attended the second Statewide
2 bookmobile conference, "The Road Warriors Ride Again," in
3 Clarion, Pennsylvania, May 3 through 4, 1991, sponsored by the
4 State Library of Pennsylvania in cooperation with the center for
5 the Study of Rural Librarianship at Clarion University;
6 therefore be it
7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives proclaim the week
8 of May 19 through 25, 1991, be recognized as "Bookmobile
9 Appreciation Week" in Pennsylvania.
