AN ACT
1 Amending the act of September 26, 1951 (P.L.1539, No.389),
2 entitled, as amended, "An act defining clinical laboratory;
3 regulating the operation of the same; requiring such
4 laboratories to obtain permits, and to be operated under the
5 direct supervision of qualified persons; imposing certain
6 duties upon the Department of Health; and providing
7 penalties," further providing for reports of laboratory
8 findings.
9 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
10 hereby enacts as follows:
11 Section 1. The act of September 26, 1951 (P.L.1539, No.389),
12 known as The Clinical Laboratory Act, is amended by adding a
13 section to read:
14 Section 12.1. Report of Laboratory Findings.--(a) Reports
15 of clinical laboratory findings shall be made only to the
16 following:
17 (1) The person who submits the specimen or requests the
18 laboratory analysis or an authorized agent.
19 (2) Upon payment of a reasonable laboratory fee, the person
20 who provided the specimen for analysis.
21 (b) Nothing in this section shall prohibit the issuance of
1 reports of clinical laboratory findings to town, city, borough
2 or Commonwealth health officials as required by statute or the
3 inspection or impounding of records of the reports by an
4 authorized representative of the department.
5 Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
