                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 23 (Domestic Relations) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, providing for child abuse record
     3     checks for teachers.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  The definition of "child-care services" in
     7  section 6303 of Title 23 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     8  Statutes, added December 19, 1990 (P.L.   , No.206), is amended
     9  to read:
    10  § 6303.  Definitions.
    11     The following words and phrases when used in this chapter
    12  shall have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
    13  context clearly indicates otherwise:

    15     "Child-care services."  Child day-care centers, group and

     1  family day-care homes, foster homes, adoptive parents, boarding
     2  homes for children, juvenile detention center services or
     3  programs for delinquent or dependent children; mental health,
     4  mental retardation and drug and alcohol services for children;
     5  services or programs provided in public, private and parochial
     6  schools, intermediate units or area vocational-technical
     7  schools, including those provided by independent contractors and
     8  their employees; and any [other] child-care services which are
     9  provided by or subject to approval, licensure, registration or
    10  certification by the department or a county social services
    11  agency or which are provided pursuant to a contract with these
    12  departments or a county social services agency. [The term does
    13  not include such services or programs which may be offered by
    14  public and private schools, intermediate units or area
    15  vocational-technical schools.]

    17     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 90 days.
