                               A JOINT RESOLUTION

     1  Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the Commonwealth
     2     of Pennsylvania, providing for four-year terms for members of
     3     the House of Representatives and six-year terms for members
     4     of the Senate.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby resolves as follows:
     7     Section 1.  The following amendment to the Constitution of
     8  Pennsylvania is proposed in accordance with Article XI:
     9     That section 3 of Article II be amended to read:
    10  § 3.  Terms of members.
    11     Senators shall be elected for the term of [four] six years
    12  and Representatives for the term of [two] four years.
    13     Section 2.  At the first general election after the adoption
    14  of this amendment, representatives in odd-numbered districts
    15  shall be elected for terms of four years and the representatives
    16  in even-numbered districts shall be elected for terms of two
    17  years. Sixteen senators shall be elected for terms of two years,

     1  17 senators shall be elected for terms of four years and 17
     2  senators shall be elected for terms of six years. The method of
     3  selection of the senatorial districts which shall correspond to
     4  the terms of two, four and six years shall be provided for by
     5  the General Assembly.
