                                     AN ACT

     1  Authorizing the Secretary of Transportation to negotiate an
     2     interstate compact with states adjoining this Commonwealth
     3     concerning maintenance and repair of public highways,
     4     transportation facilities and rights-of-way on or along state
     5     lines.

     6     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     7  hereby enacts as follows:
     8  Section 1.  Authority .
     9     The Secretary of Transportation is authorized to negotiate a
    10  compact with the duly authorized agents of any one or more of
    11  the States of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and
    12  West Virginia in accordance with the Constitution of the United
    13  States, concerning maintenance and repair of public highways,
    14  transportation facilities and rights-of-way situated on or along
    15  the line between the Commonwealth and any of the states
    16  enumerated above, whereby the Commonwealth and any of these
    17  other states mutually agree to maintain and repair those
    18  portions of such public highways, transportation facilities and
    19  rights-of-way as are situated within their respective

     1  jurisdictions.
     2  Section 2.  Submission to General Assembly for ratification.
     3     The compact negotiated by the Secretary of Transportation
     4  shall be submitted by the Governor to the General Assembly and
     5  shall become immediately operative as to the Commonwealth and
     6  other states that ratify it whenever it has been ratified by a
     7  duly enacted law of this Commonwealth, and by any other states
     8  as their laws may prescribe, and the Congress of the United
     9  States has, if required, consented thereto.
    10  Section 3.  Effective date.
    11     This act shall take effect immediately.
