SENATE BILL

No. 872 Session of 1989


        INTRODUCED BY MADIGAN AND REGOLI, MAY 2, 1989

        REFERRED TO LABOR AND INDUSTRY, MAY 2, 1989

                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of September 2, 1961 (P.L.1177, No.525),
     2     entitled "An act fixing the salaries and compensation of
     3     members of certain boards and commissions, and repealing
     4     inconsistent acts," removing from the act the salaries of the
     5     Chairman and members of the Unemployment Compensation Board
     6     of Review; and making a repeal.

     7     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     8  hereby enacts as follows:
     9     Section 1.  As much as relates to the Unemployment
    10  Compensation Board of Review of section 1 of the act of
    11  September 2, 1961 (P.L.1177, No.525), referred to as the Board
    12  and Commission Compensation Law, amended November 8, 1971
    13  (P.L.535, No.138), February 8, 1972 (P.L.21, No.10), and
    14  November 23, 1976 (P.L.1160, No.257), is amended to read:
    15     Section 1.  Annual salaries shall be payable in equal
    16  installments every other week, as follows:

    18     [To the Chairman of the Unemployment Compensation
    19  Board of Review ....................................... $14,000


     1     To the members of the Unemployment Compensation
     2  Board of Review, other than the Chairman of the
     3  Unemployment Compensation Board of Review, each ....... $13,000]
     4     The executive board shall determine the
     5  salaries of the Chairman and members of the
     6  Unemployment Compensation Board of Review.

     8     Section 2.  The following acts and parts of acts are repealed
     9  insofar as they are inconsistent with this act:
    10         (1)  Section 203(a) of the act of December 5, 1936 (2nd
    11     Sp.Sess., 1937 P.L.2897, No.1), known as the Unemployment
    12     Compensation Law.
    13         (2)  Section 442.1 of the act of April 9, 1929 (P.L.177,
    14     No.175), known as The Administrative Code of 1929.,
    15     Section 3.  This act shall take effect immediately.
