A RESOLUTION 1 Memorializing the United States Congress to reject all proposed 2 reductions of veterans' benefits. 3 WHEREAS, The United States Department of Veterans Affairs is 4 contemplating eliminating: 5 (1) compensation payments for veterans with a service- 6 connected disability rating of 10% and 20%; 7 (2) all future cost-of-living increases for all service- 8 connected and nonservice-connected disability ratings; 9 (3) certain benefits for dependents of nonservice- 10 connected veterans; 11 (4) dependents' allowances for all dependents of 12 veterans below 50% disability rating; and 13 (5) all future cost-of-living increases for veterans'
1 widows; and 2 WHEREAS, Other changes the Department of Veterans Affairs is 3 considering would: 4 (1) provide different rates of service-connected 5 compensation benefits to wartime and peacetime service- 6 connected veterans of all ratings; 7 (2) reconsider age 65 disability presumption for 8 purposes of establishing nonservice-connected pension 9 eligibility; 10 (3) substitute educational benefits for dependent 11 allowances for veterans' dependents between 30% and 90% 12 ratings; and 13 (4) pay all future widows' benefits at a flat rate, 14 regardless of the veterans' rank during military service; 15 therefore be it 16 RESOLVED, That the House of Representative of the 17 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania memorialize the United States 18 Congress to reject all proposed reductions of veterans' 19 benefits; and be it further 20 RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to 21 the presiding officers of each house of Congress and to each 22 member of Congress from Pennsylvania.
