A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1 Directing the Insurance Committees of the Senate and of the 2 House of Representatives of the Commonwealth to hold joint 3 public hearings in Harrisburg and Philadelphia on the 4 accessibility and affordability of automobile insurance in 5 Philadelphia and the feasibility of implementing a "single 6 carrier automobile insurance plan" for drivers who are 7 Philadelphia residents. 8 WHEREAS, Automobile insurance rates in the Philadelphia area 9 are escalating to the point where automobile insurance is 10 becoming unaffordable for many residents of the area; therefore 11 be it 12 RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the House of 13 Representatives of the Commonwealth direct the Insurance 14 Committees of the Senate and the House of Representatives to 15 hold joint public hearings in Harrisburg and Philadelphia on the 16 accessibility and affordability of automobile insurance in 17 Philadelphia and the feasibility of implementing a "single 18 carrier automobile insurance plan" for drivers who are 19 Philadelphia residents; and be it further 20 RESOLVED, That for the purposes of this resolution, the term
1 "single carrier" shall include a private insurance company, a 2 public authority or a public agency; and be it further 3 RESOLVED, That the committees, acting in concert, present a 4 report to the General Assembly on the findings and 5 recommendations which result from the joint public hearings, and 6 make this presentation no later than February 14, 1990.
