        REFERRED TO COMMITTEE ON RULES, JUNE 13, 1989

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating June 18 through 24, 1989, as "Psychologists Week."

     2     WHEREAS, Psychologists diagnose and treat mental illness in
     3  mental health clinics, hospitals, and other health settings and
     4  strive to improve the education and adjustment of our children
     5  in public and private schools; and
     6     WHEREAS, Psychologists stress the early intervention and
     7  prevention of mental illness, child abuse, drug and alcohol
     8  abuse, delinquency and other social problems; and
     9     WHEREAS, Psychologists conduct research into human behavior
    10  and experience and apply the principles of behavior to promote
    11  human welfare in industries, businesses and other work settings;
    12  and
    13     WHEREAS, There are over 120,000 psychologists in the United
    14  States and over 6,000 psychologists in Pennsylvania; and
    15     WHEREAS, Psychologists dedicate their professional lives to

     1  promoting social harmony and human welfare; therefore be it
     2     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate June 18
     3  through 24, 1989, as "Psychologists Week" and ask the residents
     4  of this Commonwealth to recognize and support the valuable
     5  services provided by psychologists.
