                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of August 12, 1971 (P.L.313, No.78), entitled
     2     "An act providing for elimination of discriminatory
     3     provisions relating to compensation for services and
     4     treatment under sickness and accident insurance contracts and
     5     providing for nondiscriminatory reimbursement of sickness and
     6     bodily injury claims thereunder," prohibiting the rejection
     7     of a claim as medically unnecessary unless reviewed by a like
     8     licensed person.

     9     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    10  hereby enacts as follows:
    11     Section 1.  The act of August 12, 1971 (P.L.313, No.78),
    12  entitled "An act providing for elimination of discriminatory
    13  provisions relating to compensation for services and treatment
    14  under sickness and accident insurance contracts and providing
    15  for nondiscriminatory reimbursement of sickness and bodily
    16  injury claims thereunder," is amended by adding a section to
    17  read:
    18     Section 1.1.  Any company offering accident or health
    19  insurance within this Commonwealth may not reject any part of
    20  any claim properly made under the policy unless a like licensed


     1  individual has reviewed the claim and found the treatment
     2  provided to be unnecessary.
     3     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
